Antarctica and penguins with blue ice make for a spectacular picture that we were lucky to get this month! We explore Boston Harbor, Massachusetts, Santa Barbara, California, the Port of Long Beach, California, and head off to the Kinabatangan river basin and Komodo National Park in Indonesia, Timbavati Nature Reserve and Kruger National Park in South Africa. We found a new species of pygmy pipehorse, Kyonemichthys rumengani in Wakatobi, Indonesia. Check out Tahitian stingrays, Himantura fai, blacktip reef sharks, Carcharhinus melanopterus, double saddled butterflyfish, Chaetodon ulientensis in Bora Bora, French Polynesia. View a solar eclipse near Cook Island in the Pacific. A beautiful spotted eagle ray, Aetobatus narinari, flies along in the blue, blue ocean of Hawaii. An extremely rare sighting of a transient orca off of the Big Island of Hawaii is captured by one of our photographers. Fireworks shooting off over the water for Independence day. Yellowfin tuna, Thunnus albacares in a tuna farm off of southern Australia. Giant cuttlefish, Sepia apama, in a breeding aggregation in the Spencer Gulf, south Australia. We go to upstate New York and the marshes lined with cattails, covered bridges, the underground river and wedding chapel in Howe Caverns. Finally in England on the Isle of Wight we find rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss with their spectacular colors underwater.

Finding a hole in soft coral, Dendronephthya sp., a diver poses for a photo opportunity in the Similan Islands, Andaman Sea, Thailand hourglass dolphin, Lagenorhynchus cruciger, male dolphin porpoising, Drake Passage, Southern Ocean - males of this species can be identified by the huge hooked dorsal fin and post-anal keel flying squid species in mid-air, roughly 100 nm North of Tristan Da Cunha, South Atlantic Ocean - flying squid use membranes between their tentacles (visible on pic) & two fins at the rear of the mantle to glide through the air in a similar way to flying fish Morelet's crocodile, Central American crocodile, Mexican crocodile, or Belize crocodile, Crocodylus moreletii, makes open-mouth threat display toward photographer in cenote, or freshwater spring, near Tulum, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

This month we went to downtown San Francisco, Alcatrez, and skyline images of this great city. A nice selection of new, Interesting fish behaviors to explore. We have new deep sea images of a glass sponge, Euplectella sp., blind deep sea lobster, Acanthacaris caeca, and the deep sea brisingid sea star, Novodinia antillensis, off of Roatan, Honduras. We have rare pictures of the hourglass dolphin, Lagenorhynchus cruciger and a flying squid species off of Tristan da Cunha. We also have Miami Florida skyline, intracoastal waterway, Star Island, Palm Island, and an albino American alligator, Alligator mississippiensis. Explore Blue Springs State Park and the manatees in Florida. We also have some great shots of the Morelet's crocodile in Belize.

Cruise the Hudson River and see fireboats shooting off red, white and blue spray in front of the beautiful Manhattan skyline of New York City. Go to the rainforest of Danum Valley in Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia to see harlequin tree frogs, Rhacophorus paradalis, coulubrid snakes, weird insects and lizards, the giant forest scorpian, Heterometrus spinifer, the Borneo horned frog, Megaphrys nasuta, and the Borneo Rhinoceros beetle. See the lined seahorses, Hippocampus erectus, mating in Riviera Beach Florida. Check out a needlefish being cleaned by a bluestreak cleaner wrasse. We have commercial fishing for codfish, Gadus morhua, off of Gloucester, Massachusetts and shark fishing for shovelnose shark, Rhynchobatus djiddensis off of Mozambique, Africa. View the spectacular shots of a mimic octopus, Thaumoctopus mimicus off of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Diving with dolphins at night can be exciting - watch them explore the dark, black ocean. View the sandy bottom while snorkeling in Bonaire, Netherland Antilles. Come view the flooded Amazon River with the playful Amazon River dolphins or botos, Inia geoffrensis. Great pictures of the elusive and endangered leatherback sea turtle, Dermochelys coriacea and volunteers rehabilitating a loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta. Go to the cold Alaskan waters and explore the marine life there from sockeye salmon in Katmai National Park to the colorful sponges, odd looking stalked jellyfish Alaska ronquil, lingcod and anemones of Southeast Alaska.

Travel to Indonesia and the relaxing Bali Zen Resort. Go diving in Kirkiness Norway for giant king crabs, Paralithodes camtschaticus. Basking sharks from Cornwall in England - this month features some fantastic shots of them with their mouth open wide! We have reticulated whiprays, Himantura uarnak, and spotted stingaree, Urolophus gigas. come to Jellyfish Lake, Palau, Micronesia and hold a Mastigias papua etpisonil jellyfish or just view the wonderful moon jellyfish, Aurita aurita. Dive into the Chandelier Dripstone Cave, snorkel in this tropical paradise or fly above to see aerials of the Rock Islands of Palau. Back in the USA we have aerials of San Diego coastline including the Coronado Bridge, Point Loma Lighthouse, San Diego River, San Diego harbor, USS Midway Navy aircraft carrier, Hotel del Coronado, Crystal Pier, and the city skyline brightly lit up at night. WE have great coverage of the wind turibines in San Gorgonio Pass near Palm Springs California. You can continue on to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico - view the marshlands and the birds including sandhill cranes, snow geese. We even have images form Magto Grosso do Sul, Brazil, a nice selection of freshwater fish including characins or piraputangas, Brycon hillarii. We round out this month with rare images of the white marlin, Tetrapturus albidus in Mexico.

This month brought us some more fabulous shots of striped marlin feeding on baitballs and California sea lions getting in on the action too. On the Caribbean side of Mexico we have sailfish feeding on sardines. These are exciting behavioral shots of billfish and worth a look. We have a lot of new freshwater species such as bucktooth tetra, checkerboard barb, croaking gourami, marbled hatchetfish, fly speckled hardyhead, forktail rainbowfish, gulper catfish, lined topminnow, moonlight gourami, ompok catfish, marojejy rainbowfish, Madagascar rainbow fish, Australian lungfish, and ram cichlid. Our reptile collection is increasing with Australian water dragons, panther chameleons, eastern snapping turtle, saltwater crocodiles swimming, Komodo dragons, anole lizards, and thorny devils. Go to the Big Island of Hawaii for a beautiful sunny day, explore our beaches then head to the top of Mauna Kea to see the highest point at 13,796 feet – and of course, SNOW! Morning twilight on Mauna Kea volcano lined with the observatories anf snow is simply spectacular. We go to the Republic of Palau and use black lights to see corals luminescence underwater. The Maldives beckons with blue lagoons, sandy beaches and atolls. We have a wide diversity of animals from the Red Sea, squid, sharks, dolphins, seahorses, anemonefish, batfish, and pipefish, View the fabulous toothy grin of the sandtiger sharks, also known as gray nurse sharks (grey nurse sharks) in Australia – with thousands of schooling fish around them. And last, we make a trek to Antarctica and diver underwater to view Antarctic sea urchins, Antarctic sea stars, Antarctic limpet, giant annelid ribbon worms, spiny plunder fish, and the a great series of images of leopard seals, Hydruga leptonyx, in your face!

Crown-of-Thorns Starfish Ghiannls D Shipwreck Chum Salmon Tiger Shark


Tundra swans and great blue herons start out our new month of photos. We have all types of waterbirds and shore birds. Snowy egret, great white heron, Canadian geese, elegant tern, red necked phalarope, least sandpiper, western sandpiper, ruddy turnstone, long billed dowitcher, black turnstone, spotted sandpiper, killdeer, black bellied plover, semipalmated plover, white pelicans, brown pelicans, American bittern, Pacific loon, California gull, white faced ibis, black necked stilt, greater yellowlegs, black oystercatchers, ring billed gull, common merganser, hooded merganser, western grebe, eared grebes, pied billed grebe, bufflehead, mallards, northern shovelers, Barrow’s goldeneye…. And the list goes on. We received new images of smooth hammerhead sharks, Sphyrna zygaena, very rare to photograph! The spectacular pelagic stingray, Dasyatis violacea, photographed in green water off of Mexico. Want to explore underwater – check out our pictures of the Ocean Pearl – a personal submarine aka Seamobile. See our topside images of a local craft market in Captain Cook, Hawaii – we have carved fishhooks, Hawaiian weapons, decorative gourd carving, go to Plum Island near Newburyport Massachusetts where they have the Parker River Wildlife Refuge. Lots of wrecks in Egypt and Normandy, France. It is fascinating exploring all these underwater wrecks – and we dive into some deep ones here! Dunraven, And last – view our spectacular waterfalls cascading down from the mountains – you will enjoy the fall foliage and serenity of these images.

Humpback Whale Calf Blood Star Green Sea Turtle Atlantic Spotted Dolphins


Check out our new selection of humpback whales underwater off of Tonga – what great shots! Bikini Atoll Picture Rockhopper Penguins Nudibranch Atlantic Spotted Dolphin Calf Leaping


Great new pantropical spotted dolphins from Kailua Kona Hawaii. view our stunning collection of Stenella attenuata. Pink salmon, Oncorhynchus gorbuscha, in Sitka, Alaska, great shots of them underwater going to spawn. Photos of the Le Conte Glacier in Alaska with its beautiful blue colors. Large groups of humpback whales bubble net feeding on herring. Commercial seine fishermen with nets loaded full of chum and pink salmon.

Some new images from the Philippines including green sea turtles swimming underwater. Sicklefin mobulas off of the Azores and schooling together. Aerial images of Maui, Hawaii. Endemic silversword of Haleakala Volcano and scenics of the National Park in Maui.
